Yes, I have no doubt whatsoever that I have a soul.
But I am highly suspicious of Donut's canine owning status. [ 05-20-2002, 11:06 AM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ]

There is no way to quantify or scientifically verify the existence of a soul; this is a matter of faith only. Almost.
Kurt Godel proved, years ago, that in any axiomatic system there are true theorems that cannot be proven using the axioms (or theorems built from the axioms) alone. Since the universe is an axiomatic system (the "laws" of physics are the axioms) there must be things that are true that cannot be proven using the laws of physics. Make of that what you will. If we don't have a soul then we are nothing more than sophisticated bio-electric computers. Do you want to put yourself in the same group as your desktop? If we do have a soul then you must ask "Why?" and "What is its purpose?"; for these answers, simply fall back on the long tradition of theological thought from all over the world.

I know I have a soul. I don't believe or suppose it. I know it.
No-one here can prove me wrong. All they can suggest is that they themselves have no soul. I am not suggesting all humans have a soul. How would I know? If someone is adamant that they have no soul, then I would believe them to perhaps be soulless. (or white ) I certainly couldn't prove them wrong. However I know I have a soul. No-one here can prove me wrong. |
