LOL Legolas, I know exactly what you've been through. I missed the scene where Saruman unleashes the Uruk-Hai in Part 2 because I just couldn't wait any longer.
Imagine a guy in the cinema rushing to the exit with a VERY weird expression on his face and X-shaped legs then returning 5 minutes later showing RELIEVE... DAMN BEER!

No, the Scouring of the Shire was written out completely.

Already ordered my tickets online a few days ago for Friday night. Just watched the first and second ones again to refresh my memory last weekend, so I'm ready for the next one .

We had people running out too, the weaklings. Not fit to be watching the true movies. I'd have managed a twelve-hour movie just as easily. Maybe. Though I'd definately have liked a short break then.

Thinking back, I rather liked the reforging of the sword bit.
And was it just me or did they include more song and rhyme in this episode?
Does the special edition start with All that is gold, or did that go the way of the scourging?

The first movie was best I think, but it's definately open to debate. I've heard people champion both TTT and RotK as well.

Why have you lot got such small bladders? 3.5 hours is nothing. Just don't drink during the film and you'll be fine. When I saw it, probably about 10 people out of the hundreds went out the toilet and that's it Besides, you can train your bladder muscle by holding it in

Arrow

I didn't drink during the flick. I had 3 or 4 beers before the movie started and they didn't want to leave me in time.
By the way, I needed all of my willpower to hold back ... other things ... which wanted to leave me since the beginning of the second part of the first movie (the 15 minute break bareley was enough to drink the beer, no time of even thinking of solving the other case - priorities you know )
Next time I'm going not to drink/eat at all or wear diapers (I prefer the 2nd option, would solve all my problems in cinemas including chatty neighbors as well (what's that smell?) ).

Okay, I just saw the movie...

I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the movie just barely keeps up with the bare-bones plot. Hell, they even changed some of it. IMO, the third movie focuses way too much on the romance and the battles, while the things in-between are just as important. They also lost a lot of small and pretty big 'details'. Bleh... It's okay, I suppose...

Best of the three parts. The first and final 20 minutes are pretty slow, but everything in-between is pure movie magic. A lot fewer cheesy moments than in FOTR and TTT, and a lot more scenes of the kind that just takes your breath away.

The lighting of the beacons in particular was really one of the best movie moments of my life. The feeling you get while watching all those fires light up one after one all over the country, that something big is being set in motion, that an entire nation is awakening and getting ready for war - it just put a big bloody grin on my face that didn't go away for hours.
