In my haste, I brought Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter instead of the IceWind Dale

Now I have to wait a few weeks to get it... ah well...

so what's YOUR opinion of these two games?

Oh no. That is a bummer. I played IWD up to ch 5 then and went bought HOW hopeing it would help the game. I do like some of the new things higher levels and new spells and gear. But the game is lacking a stronger story line for me. The game is a hack and slash which is all right. But my party is still low level and getting my butt kicked all the time by some of the monsters. I just started ch 2 and can not get through the first dungeon door. When you go and make your party for the first time I would through some big tanks in there. I just finished playing BG II. Then playing IWD. IWD is just not the same. But it is stlii worth playing. Ummmmm why do you have to wait to play run down to the store and get it.

25$ that is cheap to buy the game I think I payed 59.00$. Sorry that I do not have the spare cash to lend you. and 10$ for gas that is a little steap. I take it you live in some place a long ways from town.

If you like hack and slash, it's great fun. And having HoW adds quite a few nice things... new items, new spells, makes a few of the classes worthwhile (mainly bards, druids). Plus higher resolution, some nice new voices to use for your characters, and the alt key (which is very useful). Ooh... and Heart of Fury mode, another higher level of difficulty.

The downloadable dungeon pack "Heart of Winter: Trials of the Luremaster." is supposed to be out later this month from Interplay. That should add even more to the game.
