Is it a lack of knowledge or interest that has spawned this lack of response?

This particular forum doesn't recieve too much traffic, so don't be supirsed if you don't get a reply for a few days! Back on topic.... I don't have the game, but your problem sounds like either one of two things: Damaged Disc-have a close look at the disc, as it may be scratched. An Error- read all the help files present on the disc, and read the files concerning the patch. Also, check the official Return to Castle Wolfenstein website for the latest patches and info. Hope that helps [ 07-20-2003, 10:29 PM: Message edited by: GokuZool ] |

The QIII engine that runs RtCW is generaly pretty stable. So I suspect this is a corrupt file. Run a CDROM len cleaner and check the disc for damage.

Just looked closely at my disks and found to my horror some fairly deep looking scratches. I proceeded to run my disk fixer over them and see if it would help. While still apparent, the scratches have visibly reduced in size. Tonight I will see if this has any bearing on the performance of my game.

I would have to say the scratches did not previously exist as the game operated perfectly the first time I installed it. (this prior installation taking place before my computer was thrashed by a small time hackboy)

My advice: Copy the CD. Most copying programs are quite adept at reading damaged CD's. And the produced copy has a beautifull unscratched surface. It worked wonders for me when my Panzer General II game started refusing to recognize the CD.
The only problem is the copy-protection. I do not know if Wolfenstein has a copy-protection, but, if so, there is probably a way around it.

It's not pirating/illegal, because you own RtCW and you're using the copy for non-commmercial purposes. Getting around the copy-protection may be hard, but I think Deejax has the right idea |
