The way I see it, whoever designed this place was on serious crack, had a *little* too much free time, and was a sadistic piece of crap!

2 years ago my wife and I went through the catacombs. It was very creepy, especially where they made crosses in the walls with stacked skulls. There are lots of bones down there.

I would love to go down and have a look at this place. I think you are being a little harsh The Whackmiester just because its a bit different from the norm doesnt mean that the person who created it is anything less then ordinary.

I saw the show " The Scariest Place on Earth " and in one episode they cover about that catacomb. Rumuors has it that doorway to hell can be found on that catacomb. Some people found someone's camera on the catacomb. it shows a man filming the place and suddenly he drop the camera and run away frightened. Nobody knows what happened to him. * shudder *

Many skulls are missing all bone below the cranium, and all, it seems, are missing their teeth and lower jaw bones.
I wonder if that happened before of after they died?
The text on the alter is almost respectfull, contradicting the way these bones are "buried"

The catacombs were designed to protect the people of Paris from the Plague and other deadly diseases like the flu. It's full of dead bodies because it's supposed to be. When you die of the Plague you loose your strenght of bones, start loosing limbs, the teeth are the first to fall off.

They built the catacombs because they had to...but they didnt have to make designs outta the dead people.

Those catacombs are tight....call me weird, but I love to visit/explore places like catacombs or caves or god-knows what else that's dank and dark and secretive...I feel like a Drow haha.
(P.S. I thought the structures made with the skulls and other body parts are pretty clever; go ahead, can call me sick and twisted lol)

Sure I've been there. An exact copy of certain parts of the catacombs have been recreated for Deus Ex.
