start->run->cmd

Use the chkdsk command.

You will have to use command line options to do anything other than a scan, use

chkdsk /? to see them

It does it automatically if you shut your system down by pulling the plug out or something.

My Virus Scanner recently deleted my Firewall because it thought it was a virus!

DON'T PULL OUT THE PLUG

this could kill you PC badly so i dont advise it

try right clicking on the hard disk (in my computer), and select properties. then under the tools tab should be scandisk. it will tell you it will work on restart so do that.

phew, hope you didnt try the other suggestion

well today i learned i can do a check disk with start->run->chkdsk OR do a right click on the local disk (C->properties-tools and click on 'check now' for error checking. ahhhh. XP is so weird. They move good things around or rename them and its up to the little guys like me to find them. is this what it means when they say finding the 'easter eggs' within softwares or such? LOL

not really an easter egg . easter eggs are normaly things added that are completely random and beside the point. like the golden pantiloons in baulders gate - they have no point

(although i spose the pantiloons do eventualy have some point, but in a purely baulders gate context they are pointless)
