Anyone ever buy one and listen to it? I recently decided to buy one and play it in my car on my way to and from work, see if it's something interesting and fun to listen to, when you aren't in the mood for music, if that makes sense.
Anyone here ever buy a Audio Book? If so, what did you think? |

I listen to lots of 'em, depending on my mood. I go mostly for inspirational, motivational, or training audio books.... not much in the story world, except when we're travelling with the kids. Then, we get a number of books on tape and go through them.
Zig Ziglar calls it Automobile University... if you listened to tapes and CDs during a normal morning commute, you'd learn the equivalent of a four year college degree in about three years, depending on your commute length.

I used to have a membership at Talking Book World where you could check out 3 boxes of cassettes from their selection of books on tape. I first got into audiobooks while driving cross country where finding radio stations in the middle of nowhere was dicey. I also found that listening to audiobooks kept me more awake than music.
The Hithhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a must-listen audiobook. I find it even more hilarious than the book because Douglas Adams reads it himself and brings out the humor even more. I tend to listen to fiction books, either sci-fi or fantasy because that's what I like to read. I'm always looking for unabridged versions that have a good narrator. Some of my favorite books have audio versions that I can't stand because of the reader that was used.
