Pickpocket easy? What game is this?

Man, I've been reading all these posts about guys that started with a pickpocket skill of 17 and by the time they finished Arnika had it to 50.

Well, here's my deal. I have a lvl 8 Bard with a dex of 87 and a pickpocket skill of 24. I've tried him on eveyone in Arnika. Usually multiple times. Try. Reload. Try. Reload.

The dude has stolen a total of ONE potion. One potion that's it. Ummm. When does this get easier?

Anyone have any tips on how increase my success (yeah, I've searched the forums, btw!!)

What version are you using?

Also have you pickpocketed the NPC before?

I have only gotten one item from Heli. So other than her, I have never taken anything from anyone else...

pickpocketing is very hard in the new patch, if you want to be a good pick pocketer, you need great speed and great dex, as well as about 40-50 in the skill, so you will have to wait until later in the game before you can start using it. also, change to novice before you pp(easier), and make sure you save before hand.

But reloading after unsuccessful attempts doesn't get you anything...right?

Your level is very important when you try to pickpocket:

A level 25 character with 15 pp skill is *much* better than a level 8 character with 45 pp skill.

if this is the case then at what level and PP skill should you start to PP people? And who is the easiest mark to start on?

Personally, i would just go with an unpatched version, or at least the patch before they fubarred the PP.
