Go to the below site and test your computer's speed on their bandwidth speed tester:

http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

Then log your results in the poll above.

For the record, I scored at 387 kbits/sec. Apparently this is "above average" in my area. I'm using an ADSL connection.

365.2 kilobits per second, which I think is good for an ISDN.

Bastard! I'm at 427kbps ATM - the best I have ever got is around 464kbps.

Memnoch there are probably some things you can do to get that speed up - have you tried adjusting your Receive window and maximum transmission unit (MTU) values? If not, check out this site and do the tweak test: http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
download DR TCP and do the tweaks it suggests - there are more accurate ways to determine your MTU as well and I can give you a more detailed explanation if you want... if you already know all this - ignore me - but it applies to all ADSL users.

Hmm, I just ran a DOS test and I came up with 424 kbits/sec, which means that by using a website test I'm losing about 8% of performance...

Of course it depends on the TCP/IP overheads as well....did you read my post for speed up suggestions? I don't like to think I'm wasting my typing time
