I've never played a party that had a really active cleric. Usually, I just stock them up with heal/bless/chant spells and a few others, and that would be that. However, I'm about to start a human dualed ranger(9)/cleric and will now have a cleric (who can cast druid spells) that's taking a much more active role in the game. I plan to have Aerie and Jah as priest spellcasters as well, and intend to split my spell selection accordingly. Does anyone have any tips on what priest spells are the best to have. Also, what priest spells might look good in the book, but in actuality aren't all that great?
Furthermore, with regards to dual classing, can a ranger/cleric cast druid spells in all levels? Like if i dual at level 9, I only have a casting level of 2, when I catch up, sure, I'll have a casting level of 7 for the spells a cleric can have, but techincally my ranger will only have a casting level of 2 for the spells a ranger can have (the druid spells). Does this make sense? Thanks for any tips. |

Insect plague (druid) is one of the best spells in the game
against mages. No only does it disrupt their spellcasting, most of the time their running around scared to death. Mass cure is excellent. I love the protection from fire spell. I cast that on my two melee fighters and rush them into the middle of critters, launch two or three fireballs and finish them off. Armor of faith, doom, entangle, sanctuary, draw upon holy might, animate dead (very useful), dispel magic (of course), holy smite (great at high levels), zone of sweet air, death ward, defensive harmony (tough melee fights), mental domination (save -2), neg. plane prot. (essential), prot. from evil 10', blade barrier, bolt of glory (undead and demons are the only two really useful against), true seeing, aerial servant, conjure elementals (don't have to wait like the mage spell), sol's searing orb, fire storm, gate, greater restoration, and all of the symbol spells. This is a list of just about the only spells I use my priests for. |

Since you are not gaining any experience in your old - ranger class, you will be able to cast only 2 1st level druid spells. in such point the main advantage is high HP level. You could dual from fighter and have mastery or grandmastry in weapons - i think it would be much better.

Some good good cleric/druid spells are sanuctuary, aid, barkskin, chant, spiritual hammer, animal summoning III,call lightning, zone of sweet air (great against spells like cloudkill, incendinory cloud and stinking cloud)call woodland beings is great, lesser restoration,ok. These are the spells that I personally have found useful give them a try they can prove to be very helpful.

I don't think I was clear above. After I get to level 10 as a cleric (effectively passing my ranger class) will I be able to cast druid spells of level 3 and above, even though as a ranger my casting level is 2? Has anyone played the human ranger/cleric that can tell me? Thanks again.

I don't think so. I don't think at level 10 that you have attained a high enough level as a Ranger to get 3rd level Druid spells. Minsc is 11th level in one game I'm playing and doesn't have 3rd level spells.

If you mean that will you have the level six druid spells once you reach a cleric level that can cast level six spells then the answer is yes i think so.

Start your game as a multi class Ranger/cleric you will have a much better character and he or she will end up much more powerful than duel class
I think you will have to be a Half Elf to be multi class. ------------------ The Blade Makes The Man The Man Made The Blade Death To All That Stand In Their Way! BEWARE ALL! |

Yes I like dual classed characters very much. You dont have high level spells so early but in ToB I plan to get ASAP you will rock! (special abilities for both classes!)
