I have played both, though not as much as I would like to!
There is just not enough opportunity for me.

I used to play a bit (2nd Ed) but stopped when a couple of the guys I played with got into drugs and destroyed their lives.

Played AD&D as a PnP since 1980, when I was a senior in High School; that was all the way from back in 1st edition rules to all the way through 2nd edition rules. Computer-wise, I played many of the old classic SSI Goldbox games (Menzoberranzan, Dark Sun, Ravenloft), and now the newer Black Isle games.

I have played both, but generally prefer CRPG's because there are some real losers out there. Mitro's Thread in GD last month had some excellent examples of why I like to use a PC instead of a DM. On the other hand, if you know your fellow players, beforehand, PnP can be a whole lot of fun. Some of my warmest memories are in such games, and why I still do play A.D.&D. Just bought the 3rd Edition Players Handbook, D.M.'s Guide, and Monster Manual.

I played Dark Sun, Ravenloft & Forgotten Realms for about 4 years 91-94 while I was in college, then the group split and I havn't played since, so imagine my joy when I discovered Baldur's Gate in 99... I played it so much that one day I came home from work started playing, played all night and at 8 oclock next morning I called in sick at work... and kept playing it was about then I realised I might have a problem

I used to love to get snockered and play Dark Sun. Loved the Half Giants. Good times then.
