Just got word that I am one of the winners in the Best of Michigan Artists and Artisans contest:

http://www.bestofartists.com/gpage5.html

"Harlan" - that's my professional artist name.

There will be a book available later in which my red lily painting will be featured along with the work of the other winners.

Won me an Honorable Mention in Oil Painting. Have no idea who/what won the Oil Painting devision - won't know until I can see a copy of the book.

Today, with the help of my friend Billie, the studio got reorganized. All paintings were checked for size, location of signature, date and photographed if no photos already existed - blah blah blah.

In the back corner of the studio was a 3'x 4' "map" that one of my brothers asked me to make for a computer game he was going to write (this was way back in the mid and evil ages). He never did finish the game and I never really finished the map but I did get a lot further along than he did. Thought some of you might enjoy taking a look:

You can't see any of the neat detail in this photo but it's still rather neat!

That looks cool, Wyv! Too bad he never finished it...

And congrats on getting the studio organized. Are you guys for hire? I've got an office in real bad shape...

Too bad I never finished the map either although it is pretty kewl as it is now. Maybe if I get some spare $$ I'll have it scanned for prints.

I'm sure Billie is and she's a WIZ!!! She can take a job that would take me all day and have it done in a couple of hours - amazing!! Plus she is just a delightful person!!
