After weakening the dam, I'm ready to move on. But every time I try to exit the location my game crashes. The error message states that an "assertion failed in infinity .cpp at line 1827 - demand for WED file failed." Has anyone run into this? I've downloaded a patch, and updated my NVIDIA driver. Nothing has helped so far. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

The patch you downloaded was not the official version that is supported...it was a quickly put-together fix for a few minor problems that people knew were immediately wrong...yet the patch never went through an official trial and error testing stage. They called it a BETA patch. However, they are waiting for people like you to let them know that they have a problem with that BETA. I would suggest you call or e-mail them and let them know of this error. That way, it would be implemented into the official patch, whenever they get around to making it.

For now...the first thing that I know that their tech. guys would recommend you do is to clear out your tempsave folder and cache folder. That is what they told me when I was having trouble with IWD I.

I would recommend you wait and let another membert post after me and confirm this however. I am not so sure, that I would want you to do it with my say alone. Let somebody else confirm this first. If nobody does, and you call their tech support and they say to do as I described...then you can buy my lunch or something....Deal?

Was that before or after the patch? Have you made sure you've got plenty of HD space? Are your sound drivers up-to-date? Have you run a utility program or two to make sure your O/S is humming along fine? And what about your monitor drivers? People never think about the monitor drivers... You could be running generic, or you could be running mfg. Never hurts to try.

I would do all those things. If that doesn't work, I would suggest you **may** (and that word was MAY) have a damaged install or damaged installation on the CD-ROM that is almost perfect, but not quite... (It's usually some data-file problem. Happened to me once in my life.)

Tech support is generally the best place to go.
