Has anyone ever heard of Legend of Zelda?? Part1, part 2, SuperNintendo, the Two for N64, the 3 for Gameboy... umm.. am i missing any?
That's only the most popular RPG series Nintendo ever made

But if you ask me, i'd call link a Ranger. He fights a lot; does well with several swords and shields.. Now, you might say he's a thief cuz he's all into those items. but as heroic as he is, he must be a fighter class.
in the N64 versions.. he's a "forest kid".. and has a "familiar" in the form of a fairy.. I'd say that about cements his class as a Ranger

Hey ya now it's possible he's a bard because he has an instrument, uses spells, steals stuff from chests in poeples houses, and has a name.

don't bards Pick pockets rather than steal from chests? Now the instruments, he does get goofy with them in Majora's mask.. and all those masks are like, costumes... so she could be a bard after all. But if he is, he surely STARTED as a Ranger in the first Zelda.
He may have progressed into a bard in the 2nd when he learned magic spells. Spells were a bit less prevelant in the next 2 zeldas (supernintendo and gameboy) and magic became music in the 64 version (with the exception of a few battle enchantments). So, i suppose if you were making a character for a real campaign, you might go with the bard. But in IWD, bards aren't quite as cool as rangers... and link is pretty cool

Link would probably be a ranger (or a plain fighter, but ranger is cooler ). The thieving aspect is really nothing more than 'lending' from the friendly villagers, as they don't need the items, but Link does in order to save the world. If he asked instead they would probably give it to him anyway
As for the bard part, he's definately quick to learn new songs, but it's more of an interest than a way of life. He's much more into fighting than into music, and besides, he's not that good a spellcaster either.
Nope, definately ranger
