Hey all, i just started this game (actually, about 20 min ago) and i was wondering if i should install the expansion in right away or only when i need it. I know the expansion adds some new spells..but does it add a new area too? I got the game in a package with IWD and HoW but i dont exactly know what HoW does. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks

Edit: O, i forgot one thing. The first character i made was a mage, and since you dont reay have a main character in this game (unlike the bg1 and 2) and i dont want the mage in the front lines, cant i move him down the line on the list of portraits so someone with higher HP can lead and stuff?

Yes, Xero you should install HOW now. It adds new items available in the town of Kulduhar. You will also particularly want it if you are playing the druid or bard classes. It will improve the interface too which you might not notice that much if you've only been playing for 20 minutes, but it will improve the shopkeep interface, allowing you to buy or sell multiple items at once.
As far as "what it does", it adds the above improvements, adds multiple new areas, raises the exp cap, and in general does what any good expansion should do.
Click on your mage(or any other character) and drag them to the point in the lineup that you want(just like BG). You can do this at any time except when you are interfacing with an npc. You definately don't want your mage up front at any time in the game, but particularly in the early parts. It is somewhat more challenging to keep your mage alive in IWD than in say BG2, as you are probably somewhere around 4-8 HP.

Have fun and keep us posted.

the hierloom is in one of the tombs. The hardest tomb is in the top right corner so do all the others first.

First make sure you keep all keys and symbols and stuff which seems useless because you will need them to access some areas later in kresslacks tomb..

There are five small tombs in vale of shadows... and the sixth one is the main one in upper right corner which is kresslack's (sic?) tomb, which you shoud visit after you finish the other five...

the tombs are:

1. Go straight esat from your starting locaion till you find it
2. Go south from your starting location... midway turn east and then little north
3. Go all way south from starting location then all way east... on entering the tomb a skeleton will ask you to stay out but you just stay in and kill him....
4. go west of the 3rd tomb... you will find a way leading north... ignore it for now as that will lead to kresslack.... a little more west you will find a second way going north, go there till you reach open area with a praying statue in the middle... north esat of the open area is the way to fourth tomb.
5. 5th tomb can be reached by taking the passage south west of the open area... this isnt a tomb exactly but just a cave... make sure that once you enter you click on the tents inside as that will tell you that sometyhing else other than yetis inhabit it. Remember this cave as you will need to return here later..

After finishing 5 caves go to north east to kresslacks tomb...this is a large three-levelled tomb so i want spoil you anything there.....

.
.
.

s for the heirloom: the heirloom will not be in any tomb... it can be found on a yeti chieftain who is in front of the fifth tomb... give it to mirek back in kuldahar who will be standing in front of potters house.

lastly,
consider you might want to visit this http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/iwd/walk/ if your stuck anywhere
