yeh my warranty is expired. Let me just get one thing straight? If my warranty is expired and I go and take the sticker off and I cant fix it would I still be able to send it away for the £80? Or would they refuse? NO guesses here please, this is the vital question.

If you're talking about my 'sledgehammer' suggestion, that wasn't to be taken serious so you know

AFAIK removing the sticker counts as tampering with the system, making the fault self administered which they may refuse you for.

As for the screws locations, flip your ps2 over so that the largest flat is on the floor. You will see four small black squares, two on the "upper" layer and two on the "bottom". These are the same colour as the console case but you can poke them out with a butter knife or your nails. Inside is an X screw under each cover. Not tried opening it yet.

How about sending it to the shop you bought the ps2 from for repairs? It's much cheaper that way. Or is it that the system overthere is somewhat different?

The smale private games shops often do it. I know that a few near me do it, surely Aberdeen has some of those shops?

Only with a cd with small brushes on it. I don't know where we bought it but should be some computer shop. It didn't work cause we had hardware errors though. It might be worth a try but if you think the laser might be a bit dusty.
