As you may guess sniper training is really tough.
Mentally as well as physicaly. Its not easy looking at a zoomed up close view of an unsuspecting target and pulling the trigger.

Umm... Ian that doesn't count! If I have to, i'll join the airforce so I can pay for college. I don't like ships, and I don't have the marine or army killer instinct.

Good luck to you also Evil Al! Thing to remember is not to let the mind games in basic training get you down.

Spent 15 years in the US Army Reserves. Construction Surveyor (82-B) and Inspector (51-T) in the Engineers (Combat Heavy Engineering Battilion). My unit fought in Operation Desert Storm. I enjoyed every year of it. Alas, the Wife didn't especially after I went of to war. So I got out. But it was fun! The Army is what you make it. Just remember that everything that goes on in Basic Training is a mind game and it won't last forever. Just do what they tell you and don't volunteer for anything. I remember when I was in Basic Training it seemed like hell, but afterward, I realized I learned a lot and really had a pretty good time. Oh, and start running, and doing push ups now! You won't be so sore the first week or so that way. Good Luck!

Thanks, I'll remember that. I've been away with the army finding out what army life was like. All the time I was thinking "if I got talked down to I’m going to lose my temper" but when it came to it I was too scared to speak back. Afterward I spoke to the Corporal that was yelling at me and found it was necessary... I didn't make the same mistake again.
