Skull Castle Wiz guild Vampire, (spoiler possible)

I've looked through most of skull castle but I have one door with a stone face beside it that I can't open. Nor have I found anything that will open it. Secondly. I can't find the Wizard Guild's Vampiress. I found a whole room of vampires and refused to help them... that means I had to kill 'em. But the wizard guild's vampiress wasn't there. Have I missed something or killed the wrong things? Also is the key I need in the chest in the lava room? I managed to get just a few things out of that chest before everyone was nearly dead.

Use the Staff of Death on that door. It will answer all of your questions...

You open that door by using the Staff of Death (the one the lich dropped) on the stone face, and guess who's in there?
You don't miss much if you killed the vamps, most people helped them first, and then killed them. If you help them you get the Vampire's Ring, which is very nice if you're running the patch; if you didn't patch your game, equipping the ring will crash the game.
Lavawalk (Stone spell) helps a lot in many situations; that particular chest has the Relic the Lich wants, but you must have found it, as you're all but finished with Skull Castle.

Thanks folks. I've stood in front of that door confused for quite some time. Was beginning to think it was some sort of joke. Guess it is time to become insane in Anephas' shrine now (it is the only place left I seem to have been able to find so far.
