Okay...I have already completed Icewind Dale once, and recently got HoW. On my run through DE5, I came into a room (I believe it was just north of the High Torturer's chamber) and pressed the ALT key to find whatever treasure containers might be lying around. I had my cleric detecting traps, and my bard singing Tymora's Melody. A small red square was illuminated on the wall. When I moved my mouse over it, the "pick-lock" icon appeared. When I clicked on it, my party rushed over and the square disappeared. Two questions:
1. What, exactly, was it?
2. If it was a trap, then why was I able to deactivate it without a thief?

**Minor Spoiler**

It is not a trap. It is the trigger to a secret torture room. Walk back a few steps along the passage and look at the eastern side of the wall - there is an open passageway now.

Make sure you look at the table, because there is a very good weapon on it.

I think it's kind of funny you mentioned the brick being just north of the High Torturer's room, when I believe that's the room that the brick allows access to.

Heh, I didn't pick up on that.

I'm not quite sure why the designers decided to make you work for access to that passageway. It really doesn't add anything to the game. Maybe they're just rewarding those who press the Alt key.
