ALWAYS SAVE before you check whether or not you have become a monk or they do reset the time

A couple of things about the monk quest.
1: As people have mentioned, if you go into town it may or may not start over. Some people have posted that going into town is OK as long as you talk to nobody. Probably best to avoid town altogether.
2: According to the manual, each day of gametime is about one hour of real human person time.
3: Eventhough you become a monk I don't think you immediately get access to kung fu. If I remember my Oomphaz monk had to do a quest or two for the Bushi dojo before Kung fu was trainable. Even once you do get it, it's best to train it up to a decenct level, otherwise you will miss frequently and when you do hit, it won't do much damage.
4: As far as the man traps go, get your wizard the burning haze spell which works great against the mantraps. It's best to play around in the Snake temple until you acquire some powerful spells, that you can target from a distance.
Hope that helps.

UGGGG!! Tell me that talking to the ninja man in the town does not reset it! I am just at the end of my first day and I have talked to him 3 times! I can barly take the time for one more day. As I let it sit while I do other stuff and there are 2 other ppl besides me using the computer. if one is not on the other wants on right away and we all avrage 5-15 hours a day each.
If I leave the computer on and do other stuff, not at the computer, my husband has a fit as he wants on the computer. and as he is not into games, he does not 'get' what I am doing. I was hoping this was almost all done, this means I have START OVER. maybe I dont need any monks. *sigh*

Katt - perhaps rather than just letting the game sit to pass the time you can continue to explore and gain some experience ? Or is your to be monk too vulnerable to attack??

I've played the game without a monk though it does seem like an interesting class.

Katt: IMO, the monk class simply is not worth the hassle. Why the designers made this class so difficult to attain in the first place, I have no idea. You only get to learn Spirit spells (which if you were a priest in the first place, you're gaining nothing), and the only other guild you can join (without finagling it) is the Bushi Dojo. Get a Paladin instead, and then take him or her, or someone else, to Ninja later to get the Kung Fu. You'll be a lot better off, believe me.

Just out of curiosity: can anyone tell me why anyone would want the Monk role? Is there a special trait that you can get? (I'm not talking about Nature's Keeper; I know that one already). I mean like "Crusade" for Paladin or "Fletchery" for Ranger.

That's quite all right, Katt! You're about pulling a "monk's quest" in real life, hmm?

I take it that rough=rogue? That was the only one I was confused on. Of course, given the Highland Rogues that's in the game, "rough" might be a better term, LOL!

I understand now about the Omphaaz. Yep, hard to find anything but robe armor for them early on. Later, after Brimloch Roon, you'll have all kinds of Omphaaz armor (to their delight, and the disgust of non-Omphaaz groups, hehe! I could just hear my guys cussing when they picked up their 16th piece of Omphaaz War Plate +2!)

It looks as though your choices are sound ones. Run with it! Main thing is, have fun! We're rooting for you.
