My top five are those below:
1. Yngwie J. Malmsteen (as himself) 2. James Hetfield (Metallica) 3. Kirk Hammet (Metallica) 4. Mikâel Âkerfelt (Opeth) 5. Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) [ 07-04-2005, 03:24 AM: Message edited by: T-D-C ]

Don't know have a few I like now but I don't play guitar myself so some stuff can sound really good to me but actually be quite easy to play (well not like power chords or so )
Also I don't really listen to any of those popular guitar players you see on a lot of lists like steve vai or so. Alexi Laiho (Children of bodom and some other stuff) Further I could list the rest of the guitar players in my favourite bands but that wouldn't add anything. edit: the best guitarist ever would be a bit too much and relative by the way [ 07-03-2005, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: philip ] |

None of the above: Jimi Hendrix has everybody else beat a mile.

#5 Steve Harris did pretty well to get on there. He's a bass player An awesome one.
And I could start a "Uh huh, Nuh-uh" debate, which is all this thread could ever hope to be anyway, but I enjoy every single guitarist (and bassist) named. I do object to a rhythm guitarist being up there though, (Hetfield). |

Jimi Hendrix.
He was some freak of nature that to this day, no man or machine could replicate his skill. |

Hendrix, definently.
Frank Zappa's another favorite of mine.
