Tuppence needs her worm pill. I tried the meat-flavoured chewies but she wouldn't eat them (also tried them mixed up with her other food but that made her leave her food ). Now resorting to the little pill you have to shove down her throat. I have traumatic memories of the last time I tried! Anyone have any good tips on how to give her her pill and avoid losing blood?

put the pill inside a fish flesh. the cat will eat the fish and will "accidentally" eat the pill as well. that's what i do to my cat.

This is hard to describe. We give our little kitty with a lung tumor her pill everyday this way with minimum blood loss.
You want to tip the cats head back causing the mouth to open involuntarily and pop the pill in. Use one hand to grab the cats head from behind, near the neck, tilt head back, and pop! Then massage the kitties throat to encourage swallowing. I found this technique in a book and I got it to work after a few tries.

You don't think she'll writhe around and scratch and claw when I try opening her mouth Chewie? She's not the most accomodating cat in the world
Man if there's typos in that I don't care anymore. I retyped that time after time. Must be almost winter

Oh, I didn't notice that you already tried the stuff in food method.
I guess you need someone to help you to hold the cat and the cat's paw while you give him the pill. |

This is one I read about but don't know if it works.
Grind pill up and mix it into some slightly softened butter. Put butter on the top of kitties paw. Kittie will lick off butter because cats don't like greasy paws. Allegedly. I could see it developing into a farce of some proportion though, if kittie decides instead to race around the house leaving a trail of butter behind and sliding around on it!

ISBN- 0-8120-1767-6, It is published by Barron's. It actually has pictures of the pill-giving technique I described above. [ 05-22-2003, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: Chewbacca ]
