Well it shouldn't break apart... it will just seize to funtion to save the processor.. mine hangs when I boot or when in my desktop... it just hangs usually with the same time difference so that can be a clue...

With us not solving one thing the entire day, I think we tend to lose concentration.. and I would just like to call it "momentum" by the following day the momentums disrupted, then we can all start neutrally, and with that and our experience behind us, momentun shifts and voila

My monitor just blew up this morning. I was working on an essay (which was due in this afternoon) and all of a sudden, my monitor just flickers and dies. When I try to switch it back on, it makes funny clicking noises, then dies again. Grrrr.

Luckily, a friend had a spare monitor which I could use. Phew!

ON an older CPU, losing the fan means it crashes whenever you get into a CPU-intensive activity (usualy a game or benchmark), with no damage to the chip or board other than a few weeks off the expected lifetime.

But these modern chips, if they loose the fan, will start to melt the components below then inside of 30 seconds. The only way to detect it in time is to have a really loud fan so you can hear it fail. Not likly. Some mobos will warn you though, which is all right for those with a modern mobo.

Now, my own tale of woe. My printer died a week agao, and came back the next day (Afer I *walked* 20 miles trying to find somewhere with a printer that wasnt too afraid of viruses to print my CV). Naturaly I printed several copies since I thought the printer was totaly dead.

The printer died *again* the same day I ran out of copies. ARSE. Totaly dead this time, and I cant even interpret the error code because its one of those that just beeps at you, and the codes arent in the manual. And its now 72 hours since I emailed tech support and not a single acknowledgement yet. I am starting to hate Canon.

. i thought then that my windows is corrupted with a virus. therefore i reinstlled first before swithching HD. after reinstalling it twice... nothing happened. same probelm. i then switched hardisk (all three combination and installing windows) nothing happened. it took me the whole day to do all of those things, and the result: same problem ... grrrr.. . i was so frustrated that i finally slept and wasted an entire day with no success. the next day, i found that my fan for my processor is not working. (DOH!!!) and with 4 dollars and 30 min. i finally fixed my computer... sigh... still ... i think that two days ago, it was my unlucky day i guess. now im sure that some of you people have those same or similar experiences. care to share it?
Damn, you're lucky you didn't fry your chip! If my cpu fan went out my processor would be toast in about 10 seconds.

Oh believe me there are some computers with incredibly loud fans. I forgot what the newest machine is called, but the fan whirs like a car engine!

Here's my cpu horror story. My dad knows a litle less about cpu's than I do. (well now anyway that I took Computer service and repair) Recently, our cpu started doing wierd stuff. It would boot you out of programs for no apparant reason, and freeze constantly. It was some sort of virus, and instead of installing the newest version of Norton, (NO! That would be to quick and easy! )he decided to fragment the entire cpu. Well after that the internal modem just suddenly died, and next went the motherboard. Yup that cpu is still dead... *sigh*

I have several fans on my motherboard - including one big mofo that sounds like a jet engine taking off! I would like a serious cooling system in there though, it probably won't be long before I want to try some overclocking

Well what I do nowadays since it is very hot here, and my CPU input output of electricity (I dunno what it is called!)'s fan ceased from functioning so I have this lil big fan beside a now naked CPU unit... now it's getting dusty and must clean it maybe once a week
