Although DWB has a penchant for placing useless things in his games just for amusement - either ours or his, I'm not sure. E.g., the loadstone in Wiz 7 - purpose: to be lugged around pointlessly the entire game.

Kind of like the wooden flute in MM6 (all hail the Guild of the Wooden Flute, says the minister of flute flagellation)

LOL! And was there ever a use for the "thing that your aunt gave you that you don't know what it is?"

Actually... you can play the Hitchhiker's infocom game on line at the Beeb's H2G2 website - with graphics (well stills, but excellent!) Same exact infocom game! If you register, you can save your games.

LOL! And was there ever a use for the "thing that your aunt gave you that you don't know what it is?"
I think there actually WAS a use for the fluff late in the game. The joke seemed to be that you tried to get rid of it so often because it seemed so meaningless that when you did finally need it, you had probably dropped it somewhere (finally) and had to go back to get it.

Or that may just be a figment of my fuzzy memory.

Sand piles are in a number of places. You can find a few outside Anephas' Shrine... and nothing seems to work on them.

And congrats on hitting Dungeon Master!

Did we answer the D'Soto question? Is it time for another? Or is this game just getting us all down. (I mean the trivia, not W&W!)

Have you tried using shovels or picks or hammers on it??

They might be just like the dirt piles in teh Stout Mines.
