after coming so far, i could not bear to have my stats depreciated by some demon from hell (or become a fallen ranger from sacrificing imeon) so i found a way around either ending
i hope this topic has not been covered a hundred times cause i am somewhat of a newbie but want to enlighten those who also refuse to lose the max hp and dex point... sorry if this has been discussed to death |

I have one! It is probably a bug though.
After the demon dude took minsc, he could still move around due to spells and equipment, (can't remember which, I think the greenstone amulet and ring of free action, but I'm not sure) so I had him just go up through from his side, opening all of the doors. Then I had my PC go down through one of the halls, without having to open any doors (and therefore not losing any stats) and talked to the demon, who perceived it as a good thing (can't remember exactly though, it might have perceived it as the evil way)

Tis an exploit of a bug in the game, and it has been rectified already with the Baldurdash Fixpack.

sorry - just wanted to make sure it hadn't already been covered...
. . . s p o i l e r i i i i i v originally tried 'free action' and regeneration on immy, hoping she might heal between opening of the doors, but Selfish holds her again and she does not regenerate... next tried her with the boots of speed and though she makes the door, she still takes critical damage and you 'fail' next was running to the other door and PRESTO!!, you 'lose xp' {though i could not find this numerically amongst any of my characters} and the scenario closes and you can now open the doors without penalty and exeunt... i don't know if this is 'cheating' but i know that i was not willing to give up my 20 dex taken from ToSC, and i'm happy i found a way 'around it' hope this helps those who feel the same way ;D |

If you have ToB, there is at least a couple of ways to get that dex point back. That's all I'm going to say, though.

Download ShadowKeeper and give yourself the damn stats back, then. Oh, you don't wanna cheat? Well, looking for some way around this test is cheating, all you need to do is make it a bit more obvious and cheat with a program.. Sorry for sounding preachy, but you want to get around this test, but it was put there for a REASON.. namely, would you let a friend suffer, or put your own well-being above theirs? I think it was a good test. And besides, I forget which stats you lose but there are items that increase stats (I can think of items just in SoA that increase strength, dex, and cha off the top of my head.)
Again, sorry for being preachy.. But it's true.
