Most home users run their computers at 800x600 or 1024x768 max resolution. So to be able to cover everyone, you should design at 640x480...actually, design with a screen width of 580 to allow 60 pixels for the window borders, toolbars, etc. If that's too limiting, design at 800x600, bearing in mind that about 1/3 of the browsers will not be able to display at that level and that people will have to horizontally scroll back and forth. If you want to design one at a higher resolution, make sure you design a low-resolution one as an alternative for people with older browsers. Hope this helps! |

960 by 720 sometimes go smaller or bigger (but just a bit) so usually about 800 by 600 to 1024 by 768
