I have Minsc wearing Red Dragon Scales, and he is also wearing a Ring of Protection +2. If I unequip the armor and then try to re-equip it, a message comes up saying that you cannot wear this because of other magical items you are wearing. So how did I get the armor and ring on in the first place and am not able to do it anymore? If Minsc dies now, I always have to reload so that he can keep all the equipment he has, or else I can't wear the ring. Is this a bug?

Maybe. I do not know. But if you want to have Armor and Ring equipped at the same time download Ease Of Use Mod

It is most certainly a bug,
people just can't agree if it is a bug that you are able to wear the ring in the first place or that you can't later.
It's all about if you want to attribute the "magical armor -> no RoP" rule only to items enchanted after being crafted or also to magic armor which derives its power from the fabric it is made of (in your case dragon scales).

If you die for equipping the ring to Minsc just shadowkeep it in.

Did you recenetly install the Baldurash Fixpack? The Red Dragon Scales armor doesn't count as magical in the unpatched version, so if you equipped both the RoP +2 and the Dragon Scales and then patched it up, that could explain why this happens.

I have not installed any patches at all and don't really know how to use ShadowKeeper as I have not raelly bothered to use it. So no, the patches can't be what caused my problem.
