Yep. Over the Atlantic Ocean and all.
At least I guess so? It's not just a sporting match is it? I mean, when Uruguayans, even Uruguayan football players arrive, they are treated with repsect and courtesy. We love sports. Not so in Montivideo, where our lads were SPAT ON!!! and physically threatened???!!! By all accounts even the customs officers gave them an unecessarily hard time. Hmmmmmmm Did I wake up on planet earth? Oh that's right. It's in the vicinity of the nation that had a player murdered because he scored an own goal. Escobar I believe. Psychos. They're all CRAZY! YES ALL OF THEM. |

You are right Yorick - it was Escobar - a defender that scored an own goal - Columbia sure is in that continent, but not something I would class as terribly close though.
I saw the reception that Australia gave Uruguay at the airport (flag waving, cheering fans, extremely friendly) and contrast it with the jostling and spitting. Sure their team got booed during the match by a capacity crowd, but I think the garauntee was always there that it would be a two way street in the return leg. Cheetah is still on her "Hunt for Hugh" I see - I try to avoid their "frolics", but this time it has spread to one of the SPORTS topics that I love. How about an OT (Off Topic) to go with that post Silver .
