Protecting Landmarks, that's what it says in the paper. Also, hard to have enough police when it's a bloody ethnic uprising.

That won't simply happen. French ministers have already said that they shall not send the army in, and that they want to resolve the situation via a dialogue with the affected areas, and renewal of their social policies.

By the way, I study in Lyon, but wasn't there this weekend (long weekend came to visit a friend in the south of France), but when I get back tonight, I'll be able to get you a bit more inside info about the situation there.
