"the RDA for blokes is 2500calories"

That's BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too many factors determine the needed amount of calories.

Aside from what the RDA (recommended daily allowance, for those unfamiliar) might be, the math is simple:

Your body consumes calories for fuel. Any calories unused will get stored. That's called fat. If you want to lose weight, consume less calories or burn more of them.

Fat, as a whole, has around 9 calories per gram. Most other food types (carbs, sugars, etc.) have around 4-5 calories per gram.

Eat more calories, gain weight. Eat the same amount of calories but less fat, stay the same (but eat more food). Eat fewer calories, lose weight.

There are other implications of fat consumption for cholesterol and heart risks, but the short version of that is "Eat less fat, live longer".

Carbs = 4 calories per gram.

"Eat less fat, live longer" = wrong.

The body needs EFA (essential fatty acids) which is "the good fat".
