I read the label. Ingredients: Carrot juice.
No sugar, no salt, no apple or orange juice or ginger for added flavour.... I've hated carrot juice. All my life. But I bought this bottle of the stuff because it had 690% of my Vitamin A allowance. (a pound and a half of carrots in each bottle they say) The first sip... well not too bad, but very carrotty. I persevered. Let me tell you, I am now hooked. So creamy! How? So sweet! How? So tasty! It became sweeter and creamier with each mouthful, and by the end was convinced it was one of the nicest things I'd drunk. I suppose we normally get given so much sugar in our drink, that it took a while for the subtle sweetness to become apparent - compared to the last mouthful. Anyhow, GRAB SOME. I've been having some probs with my eyes, which is why I got it, but I never expected such a taste sensation. STUFF! |

It's probably an acquired taste. Nevertheless, it's strange how things change, and how our taste buds react differently over time. Although the thought of carrot juice does actually make me gag. I think I'll wait til I'm a little older (and braver) before I give it another try

Just don't drink too much or you'll start to turn orange! (seriously)
A bottle a day is fine, 5 or 6 and it'll be like you've been in a dodgy tanning salon. Home juicing is the best! We bought a bohemoth of a juicer - sounds like a plane taking off - and you can get 5kgs of juicing carrots for 5 bucks! A personal favourite is 3 carrots, 4 celery sticks, a few sprigs of parsley and some fresh ginger. It feels like your body is sucking in the goodness as you drink!

My parents have a juicer - there's nothing like fresh carrot & apple juice!
Don't overdo it though Yorick, as has been mentioned the carotene (orange pigment in carrots) would turn you orange and also vitamin A is TOXIC in large quantities - it is stored in body fat so you don't get rid of excess - it can build up and poison you. You shouldn't take more than 100% of your allowance daily. (Overdoing it once won't do damage, but if you drank the whole bottle in one day give it a rest for a week to let your body process the vitamin A from that carrotfest!) But other than those warnings, enjoy your juice! [ 10-11-2002, 05:52 AM: Message edited by: Epona ]

Speaking of carrots, I'm just about to have a slice of carrot cake! I wonder if it is as nice as carrot juice. I'll give you an update when I have finished eating it

hehe, I'm wondering how much you got for advertising too! Sounds like carrot juice has a convert now! Good for you, Hugh! Uh, whoa, if Leonis and Epona are right, you better slow up on that smooth carroty substance or we'll have a carrot-colored crooner in our midst! *giggle*
Love fresh apple juice, but I'm not a carrot juice fan. Will eat carrots raw,or cooked in any way, just not juiced
