Just a question for the Americans. The official world rankings came out today. Out of 205 football playing countries in the world - where do you think the USA is ranked?

Well, I know I love it. I used to play when I was still in school, but I don't know of that many adults who like it. As a result, I would guess our teams pretty low on the scale. Out of 205 - maybe 200?

Edit: It's hard to find it being broadcast on sports channels here, so it's difficult for me to catch the games to know where we stand. I'm sure if I were an avid sports fan enough to consider paying the extra $25.00 a month for ALL the sports channels, I'd see some, but my bill is already $75.00+ per month, so I suffer with what's on the channels I DO get.

considering the fact that in North America they are only outbested by Canada and Mehico (not that there are a lot of other countries there) and because of that tend to at least get into the World Cup (unlike the Netherlands )
I would say about 40th or something
Though i have to say that i think at least 40 European countries are better then the USofA that says something about the Ranking system

And no it's not Soccer
It's Football
It's onlder then American football so we get to choose our name

Interesting answers, but you'll be suprised to hear that they are 19th out of 205. Strange but true!

Reeka,nice answer

Heheh - we are up two places to 48th - still, we conquered the best two teams in the world this year, and (once again) stand on the brink of World Cup qualification . Oh, and the OZ versus France game is still going ahead (country before club old bean ).

I hear that France are crying off because of the world crisis. Never mind - you don't really want to play their full team. Apparently they don't want to get stuck in Oz. Life before football old bean
