Just about the most extreme example I've heard is that here you can sit on a dyke and have a fag quite innocently.....

hey all you European people out there. I'll write you a check for a billion dollars, if you'll write me a cheque for a trillion! Just don't deposit it until I say it's ok.

Donut,
It's not just limited to the US-UK ,in the southern US we spell it grey, colour ( at least until recently). Southern culture prefered the Oxford dictionary to the Webster's. thats where the Americanized spellings come from originaly. As you can tell from my posts I don prefer any dictionary ------------------ "the memories of a man in his old age, are deeds of a man in his prime" |

Rikard,
in USA, 10^15 = quadrillion and 10^18 = quintillion. Others: 10^21 = sextillion 10^24 = septillion 10^27 = octillion 10^30 = novillion 10^33 = decillion and somewhere in there is a google. Actually, I think the definition of a "google" is 10^100. [This message has been edited by Sazerac (edited 05-23-2001).] |

Hi all, I'm back online. Thanks for a great day at the football Donut, and we won't talk about the tragedy of the following weekend. Going back to the original list, toilet was paired with bathroom. I don't recall seeing any signs for either on my 3 day visit to the states - all the signs said "Rest Rooms" .
