How do you use the wooden stakes on vampires? They do not go in weapon or quick item slots. "Use Item" doesn't seem to know they are there.

You don't use the stakes on the vampire directly. However, once you kill a vampire and find its coffin, you can use the stake on the coffin.
When you approach a coffin that has a dead vampire in it, the cursor turns to a sword. If you have a stake in your inventory, a little dialogue comes up that says that you may stake the coffin if you wish. If you click on the coffin while the sword icon is over the coffin, the vampire will die permanently and you will lose a stake from your inventory. |
