When I press "T" it keeps saying Real Time mode on.
It doesn't toggle back to real time off.
It feels like I might be in Phased time mode. The monsters stop attacking while I attack with different chrs, but they still approach me when I'm selecting spells or looking in the inventory etc. I have been attacked while in these other screen also.
I'm using the patch.

Also, I can't get through the second door in the crypt. I nudged the statue on the right to open the main door, went down the spiral stairs, but stuck at the next big door.

As for you last question, you might try looking for a switch on the wall in the same room as the door. (if you're where I am thinking that you are)
If you have a Sun spell such as Torchlight, that will help find things.

Hi PhilM13, and welcome to the board!
As you've noticed, the game switches to real-time based mode when you hit the T-key. If you hit it again you don't get the message "real-time based mode off", but instead "turn-based mode on".

The turn-based mode isn't strictly turn based, but rather a compromise between real time, and turn based mode. If the monsters are in the distance the game works in real-time. If you have to enter close-combat the game is purely turn-based (if you have that switched on).

IMO this is successful way of dealing with fighting. It doesn't take ages for the monsters to get close to you, but if you are quick you have the time to shoot off a few arrows or spells. When the nasties are close enough, and maybe are surrounding you, you have the time to choose the appropriate strategy.

Good Luck with your gaming!

Thanks Folks
No it only says, Real-time Mode *on*, no matter how
may times I press "T". Anyhow I think I'm in phased time.

Also How the F**K do you climb down ladders successfully.
I usually just except the damage from the fall if it ain't
to bad. Climbing up can also cause me trouble some times.

Is there a secret to all of this?

Man!!! What a great game, and it only cost me $10 Aussie.
Though they seem to have a few great games in the
no printed manual budget packing sections these days.
Got Jagged Alliance 2 for $14.

I had the same trouble as you did with the real-time mode. I finally figured out what it was. In the options screen, there should be an option saying something about speed in real-time mode, I forget the actual name. Anyway, if it's set slow-time, that means it basically is in turn-based mode. If that's not the case, then I'm baffled. Check that though.

As for the ladders... Get the Deadfall trait, trying to go down ladders is pointless, it just doesn't work. Going up ladders is a little tricky but you'll get the hang of it. Have fun with the game! It's one of the best I've played.
