From everything I've read AOL is a major CPU hog. Its not uncommon for AOL to use MORE than 25% of a CPUs capacity. So its a program you definitely dont want to leave open if youre into online multi-player gaming. Ive never experienced any conflicts with Yahoo and MSN being open at the same time even if Im on battle.net or some such.

Personally I use Yahoo Messenger (bang_ya_head) MSN Messenger (earthdog_65@hotmail.com) and ICQ (68199244) but I dont use ICQ as much as I used to. Feel free to add me if you like everybody

Lets have a chat

The only one I use is ICQ, though I might install Trillian sometime in the indeterminate future. I won't touch MSN with a twenty foot pole. It's another attempt to use it's OS leverage to capture a market. (Look what's included with XP now...)

I've used AIM, but not yahoo pager. Nobody I know is on AIM, so I just stick to ICQ.

I use MSN, 'cos most of my friends do :/ ... and as I prefer ICQ myself, I use Trillian... and because Trillian supports AIM and Yahoo as well, I've got accounts for too

Well, Sir K, I am not one of Mr. Gate's best fans, as anyone who's been around here for long will tell you, but I truly find msn to be the most useful and convenient of all the message systems out there right now. Yahoo is a close second for typed conversations.

In my opinion, ICQ is more cumbersome, but I used it alot about a year ago as it was the best way to contact my sweetheart halfway across the country. We switched over to msn almost exclusively within a few months of talking on voicechat. We kept ICQ in reserve in case msn wouldn't let him log on for some reason-- he had problems with the local connections. All the other people I used to talk to with ICQ are either not on my list to chat with anymore or have made the move to another msg program, most of them going to msn.

I only use AIM, don't know why some people have such a hard time with it, It doesnt suck CPU cycles on any of my 5 PC's with it installed, it runs beyooootifully in the forground when I windowize games, such as Civ3. ahh well to each their own.
