Here are some simple foods that can positively affect your health...and even help with everyday maladies such as headaches, sinuses, and asthma.

1. Do you have a headache? Eat fish!
Eat plenty of fish - fish oil helps prevent headaches. So does ginger, which reduces inflammation and pain.

2. Do you suffer from Hay Fever? Eat yogurt and/or honey!
Eat lots of yogurt before pollen season. Also-eat honey from your area (local region) daily. Look for local honey vendors in your area.

3. Have trouble going to sleep? Eat honey!
Use honey as a tranquilizer and sedative.

4. Do you suffer from asthma? Eat onions!
Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes.

5. Do you suffer from arthritis? Eat fish!
Salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines actually prevent arthritis.

6. Do you suffer from indigestion? Both bananas and ginger can help.
Bananas will settle an upset stomach. Ginger will cure morning sickness and nausea.

7. Urinary tract infections or bladder infections can be controlled and aided by cranberry juice.
High-acid cranberry juice controls harmful bacteria in the urinary tract. It's also good for flushing out kidneys and preventing the formation of nephroliths (kidney stones).

8. Do you suffer from bone problems? Eat pineapple!
Bone fractures and osteoporosis can be prevented by the manganese in pineapple.

9. Cornflakes can help ease the pain and cramps of premenstrual syndrome (PMS)!
Women can ward off the effects of PMS with cornflakes, which help reduce depression, anxiety and fatigue.

10. Having problems remembering things? Eat oysters!
Oysters help improve your mental functioning by supplying much-needed zinc.

11. Suffering from the common cold? Eat garlic!
Clear up that stuffy head with garlic.

12. Suffering from a cough? Use red peppers!
A substance similar to that found in the cough syrups is found in hot red pepper. Use red (Cayenne) pepper with caution-it can irritate your tummy.

13. To help prevent breast cancer, eat Wheat, bran, and cabbage. They help maintain estrogen at healthy levels.

14. To help prevent lung cancer, eat dark green and orange vegetables, such as spinach, collards, squash, and carrots.
A good antidote is beta carotene, a form of Vitamin A, found in dark green and orange vegetables.

15. Cabbage is great for ulcers, too!
Cabbage contains chemicals that help heal both gastric and duodenal (small intestine) ulcers.

16. Suffering from diarrhea? Eat apples!
Grate an apple with its skin, let it turn brown and eat it to cure this condition.

17. Suffering from atherosclerosis (clogged arteries)? Eat Avocado!Mono unsaturated fat in avocados lowers cholesterol, and can also prevent atheromas (plaque buildup) from occurring within arteries.

18. Suffering from hypertension? Eat celery and olive oil!
Olive oil has been shown to lower blood pressure. Celery contains a chemical that lowers pressure too.

19. Suffering from hypoglycemia or diabetes? Eat broccoli and peanuts!
The chromium in broccoli and peanuts helps regulate insulin and bloodsugar.

Other important foods and fruits:

Kiwi: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, Vitamin E and fiber. Its Vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

Apple: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low Vitamin C content, it has antioxidants and flavonoids which enhance the activity of Vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack and stroke.

Strawberry: Protective fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits, which protects the body from cancer causing, blood vessel clogging free radicals.

Orange: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2 - 4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent and dissolve kidney stones as well as lessen the risk of colon cancer.

Water Melon: Coolest Thirst Quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in water melon are Vitamin C and Potassium.

Guava and Papaya: They are the clear winners for their high Vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber which helps prevent constipation.

Papaya: Is rich in carotene, which is good for your eyes.

With the summer months upon us, and people eating lighter, try adding some of the above foods to your regular meals. You may be pleasantly surprised!

Cheers and good health,
-Sazerac

Great stuff Saz! My mum is a health-nut and I get bombarded with this stuff regularly, but it really does work (although can't speak for the fish ones 'cos I'm a veggie).

Banana is the quickest way to cure diarreah.
Ginger is good for travel sickness
Cranberry juice can prevent date-rape drugs from taking full effect
Honey is an antiseptic
Garlic is one of the most effective immune system boosters known
Lime blossom tea can reduce/control high blood pressure
Red Sage tea with a pinch of cayenne/chili powder can help soothe sore throats
Guinness is rich in Vitamin B and iron and can prevent anaemia
