First off - thanks for the tips on how to get through the fire - although nothing worked for a while. I had smashed all my crates so I couldn't carry or push any to get through. Guess what I ended up running through with? A treasure chest! I hadn't completely emptied the last one (those swords are useless anyway) and just carried THAT. Ran through with the chest in front of me at full speed and *FINALLY* made it through!!!
