Does any of you know the Shannara-series by Terry Brooks? I think they're awsome!!!

I read the Sword of Shannara, which was quite alright. Elsewhere on this forum I learned that that was the worst of the series, so there's still a chance to change my opinion

I personally thought the first series was the best written, the second had its moments but seemed a bit tired, by the third series I had enough. I wish writers would walk away from their created worlds for awhile and come back later. It would give a time to re-energize and approach with a freshness. I think that is the main problem with many of the Forgotten Realms writers. It has become a money making machine whereby creativity is second to "lets publish as soon as possible and milk this cow." R.A Salvatore, along with Weiss and Hickman (yes, I know they are not FR), are the biggest examples of mediocrity for quick cash (let the flaming begin). Of course I realize publishers put on mega pressure. Just my 2 cents worth.

I started the first book...and couldnt finish it!!!!!!!!!
It seemed so blatantly cliched and tired that i just couldnt continue!
But like Legolas said i too have heard that the first was the worst of the
bunch!

I read the first two. Sword of Shanara was just OK. The elfstones dragged. Terry Brooks isn't one of my favorites.

I read, I like. His "magic kingdom for sale" was pretty good too.
