Well this will make #7 for the crustiest of the OLD COOTS, though 150 miles north of the coast sure as "Hale" beats 500 yards like the last two the Harris clan enjoyed in '95 (Fran & Opal) We lost our roof in Fran and before we could get the new roof Opal hit, It was a wonderful sight to see my rear end up on the roof spreading out bundles of shingles, in the rain and wind, over the tar paper to keep it from being blown away while the Fire Dept drove by telling everybody to evacuate(sp?).

So far Ivan is still south of us and the worst part hasn't hit us yet. I may have to fire the Lady Dorothy, after moving to the Tuscaloosa/Northport area, it seems she had forgotten all the coastal hurricane instincts. So I was out in the rain and wind bright and early this morning going to the store to get the basics for when we lose power. The "Silver Shadow", my beat up GMC pick'em truck and I had the pleasure of a outing. On the bright side this maybe the first "Hisacane" we'll get to see the TV coverage of. From what I've been able to see on the "magic box", our old stomp'n grounds of Ft. Walton Bch., Pensacola,FL and Gulfshores, Al had a big ole can of "Woop-ass" opened up on them by Ivan. I sure wish we still had our old House in Navypoint(Pensacola) I'd be collecting some good Insurance money, then turn arround and sell the land to some developer. Oh well such is the luck of the Harris Clan.

Best of luck, John. Batten down the hatches. The worse news is that another tropical storm is brewing up right on the heels of Ivan.

I just checked, and whatever remains of Ivan is likely to be right over my folks in KY on Saturday/Sunday. Ack!!

Well it's mostly over now, we were very lucky, we never lost power unlike nearly 1,000,000 fellow Alabamians most will be out of power for nearly a week or more. It seems Ivan took out part of Okaloosa Island, opening up a new channel to the Gulf of Mexico. The Part that was taken out was Part of Eglin AFB reservation where there are no Condos just sand dunes er...were sand dunes.
