Does anything permanently bad really happen when you change into the Slayer? I mean, you are always asked by some unknown entity if you want "to give up part of yourself" (or something like) before you morph. Just what are you giving up? Can you only become the Slayer a certain number of times-- Do you lose the game or something if you transform too many times?

Also, does it ever become possible (in either SoA or ToB) to transform without experiencing the almost immediate "Ouch, that hurt! Oooh the pain! Oh, geez, I better change back!" syndrome?

You can become Slayer once per day. If you stay Slayer for too long you die. Also you lose 2 points of Reputation everytime you morph...

But I hate it anyway-totaly useless.

The Slayer is IMHO just a nice add to the story. He has some special abilities, true enough, but you're more powerful with some fancy armour and weapons anyway.

yeh..its kinda usless unless u just wanna send it into a room and watch it go...and that only works on weaker stuff....

now if there was a party slayer change...with no rep-loss...now that would kick arse.....

Sure, but do you look as cool? I think not.

What always puts a damper on the slayer change for me is the fact that the people around you don't immediately freak out when you do it. How realistic is that?

Maybe you're character naturally has all sorts of tentacles and stuff? Or he's so ugly nothing doesn't scare them anymore.

I rather enjoyed the slayer change ability, well when running my evil party I tend to go nuts with it

I LIKE THAT! Like a permanent cloak of fear effect.

And using slayer change also modifies your stats, so it will lower your stats if your normal stats are higher than the slayer's stats

you can change more than once a day, i'm pretty sure...you change to slayer form, you can open the doors in the mindflayer lair without bothering about charming a mindflayer...keep those control circles, they can direcharm dragons, liches, etc....

use it if you're a fighter to kick the snot out of demiliches, slayer form is immune to imprison...

if you have a good party, but some evil npcs, like viccy or korgan, use slayer change to control reputation...
