They got 12000 something with a radeon 8500 and a P4 2.2 Northwood overclocked to 3.7 Ghz.

How the hell did they keep that thing from melting? Liquid Nitrogen cooling system?

Expansive??

Iīm glad I donīt live in US guys, the price nearly doubles when thoose little cards hits the european market.

A GeForce 4 Ti 200 costs rougley aroun 200$, in Sweden they will cost rougle 4000 Skr, there is 9-10 skr for one dollar..

Though a little warning. Donīt go get that GeForce 4 MX version. Itīs a cheap scape thing, doesnīt really have that much to do with the GeForce 4 chip at all. A hoax and it is worse then the cheapest GeForce3 Ti2000 series and it only supports DirectX7 so far..

The 8500 is a nice card, competition is always a good thing. I paid $400 for my GF3 and as soon as the ATI card hit the market... poof the GF cards dropped in price by a LOT.

With that level of overclocking I expect they're cryo'ing that system... not a very realistic long-term setup (condensation will kill it in a hurry unless it's tuned PERFECTLY and insulated up the wazoo). I've got a liquid cooled rig that I think should get my Athlon 1700 to 2ghz in a sustainable configuration (no peltiers). Cooling the GPU and CPU I'm hoping for 10k out of madonion... should be fun experimenting at any rate.

The one I'm talking about was liquid nigrogen.

I did see one that got 3.5 Ghz using oil. It was crazy, they actually had the computer submerged in a fishtank full of some kind of non-conductive oil.

Be careful, I haven't been seeing too many good results overclocking the 1700+'s. I think you might get up to 1.6 or 1.7 ghz, but I wouldn't take it much further then that. What kind of video card to you have? Are you using a water block on the video as well?

I've got water on the CPU, Northbridge, and GPU. I ran at 1600 using an HSF and the processor was at 50c but it was reliable (just to hot for my taste). Now I've got the fsb at 138 (1530 or so) and the gf3 GPU at 240/480. It's been good for 8000 on madonion.

I was thinking 2000 in the "athlon world" which is what... 1800mhz? I was thinking that 340 mhz shouldn't be too much of a stretch... goose the processor voltage and monitor temps. But first is the pain of unlocking the processor. yuk

??????? This seems a little excessive - I'm using a P2 400, with a voodoo2 graphics card and I can still own at CS (When my ping is below 200 - ntl problems). Anyway, these new graphics cards have got as much memory on them as I have on my motherboard, and their processor speed ain't far off my good ol' P2. Give another couple of years and there will probably be sound cards with similar specs to my pc aswell The only good thing I can see coming from this is that I might be able to afford a Geforce2.

A buddy of mine just bought a GF2 card (off-brand) for $40.00.

I've also got an Athlon 1200 with a GF2-MX400, truth to tell I can play just about any game I want with it and get quite acceptable performance... maybe not at 1280x1024 but usually at 800x600 or so.

I'm a guy that needs to have a hobby to waste my free time and money... I'm out of town on a year long project so I'm not spending money on my car (2700 miles away at my house)... and I work a block away from the Costa Mesa Fry's, bad ju ju.

It's fun as long as you're willing to accept that anything you buy will be basically worthless within a year or two.

I stand corrected; Here is some bench marks from the latest Unreal engine. I don't look good for my poor old voodoo2, infact it don't look good for anything less than a Geforce3
