remember... get win98 or 2000 than ME.. its so much better.. also, graphics card is a must for your upgrade..

memory, ram and processor if possible.. but if your looking for budget wise.. celeron or duron will be ok.. and you can still keep your ram i think if you go for sd slots for your motherboard..

hope this makes sense.

Heh...I saw this and well..I don't know how to do that on my Window XP. Use to know it when I still had my Windows 98. Can anyone tell me how?...sorry if this off topic, but I didn't feel like making a new topic for this one little question...

shadowspecter: I have like three or four ways to find out info, based on how much detail I want. I usually tell people to type dxdiag into the run prompt and view the info from there. There is another pathway in the start menu/accessories...somewhere,,,and the best one I have is a downloaded program that gives me such detail...I have the fingerprints of the guy that built the piece, along with what he had for lunch that day!

I'm running the game on a dell 500MHz with no problem other than some very minor lag, my advice is to get more RAM (256 minimum, I run with 512) and upgrade the vid card, The video card is where most of the real problem lie, if it's good then the computer processor doesn't have to do the work for it, and the game will fly.

i dont think that its the graphics card as much... i have a voodoo 3 aswell and the game still runs, mine is slow because i have 64mb ram, i think you *need* 512 ram for it to work perfectly, i think everyone knows how irritating it is to play a fast game on a slow pc :/

i think the rule of thumb is that Win98/Me needs 128 mb ram just to run the OS, and additional 128 mb to run everything else, for 256mb total.
with XP, you need 256 mb ram for the OS and 256 to run everything else, for a total of 512 mb ram.

Well I have looked to upgrading my current computer, but it is about four or five years old, so I will just go ahead and buy a new one. It has a 2.6 GHz processor, 256 DDR Ram, and a Intel Extreme Graphics 3D 64MB Shared Memory graphics card. I have been out of the computer loop for some time, but I belive this computer would be suitable for my needs, mainly playing Neverwinter Nights and hopefully Fallout 3 once it comes out. Would this system meet the requirements for Neverwinter Nights and the Hordes of the Underdark expansion?

Thanks!

No it won't if the graphics card is what I think it is (intergrated). Avoid this at all costs for a gaming system and pay the extra 100 or so for a removable graphics card.
An intergrated graphics card is just that, intergrated into the system so it makes it hard to upgrade since you can't take it out. You would basically be stuck with it forever even in a few years when games require powerhouse cards to play. I would ask specifically if it is intergrated and then tell them that you want sommat you can upgrade periodically as you choose (i.e. a non-intergrated).

You can actually disable intergrated graphics by disabling the IRQ's and then placing a new card in there but alot of the time (and all the time with win xp) the system seems to resent it and rewards you with crashes and bugs so this is why I say you may be stuck with it forever - better to avoid it altogether.

Everything else (speed, ram) seems fine although if It's XP I'd go for 512 of ram for my games.
