The three highest levels are Assassin, Valkeyrie and Zenmaster. Valkeyrie and Zenmaster can only be attained near the end of the game. Assassin can be achieved while still at Ishad 'Nha.

Dr.Orangutan,
Don't bother wasting time trying to talk to the dragon outdoors, he'll only only try to fry you. You'll need to visit him at his home to talk to him.

Highest level I got a character was a level 55 Barbarian; before that he was a 14th level Samurai, a 13th level Paladin, and a 3rd level warrior. This was in a 4-character party. I also did NOT kill any NPC's other than Scabban and Scanthril in my quests (i.e., no offing Erathsmedor, Oakenmir). This was all due to random encounters, having spawn rate set to High, etc.

I've heard tell of some that have achieved much higher levels. Most of those were solo-players. I imagine they killed some of the good NPC's, too.

I never understood why a player would wanna hang around and scab exp at the very end, ((no offense sazerac), then when u fight the end boss victory is academic.
Id rather play the game only so long as the storyline allows and then finish it.

THis is a fun game to replay - with or without your original set of characters!

FanPyre, the only reason I did was to get my Zenmaster and Valkyrie up to give some justification for getting them in the first place. I ended up with a 20th level Zenmaster and a 16th level Valkyrie, and a 45th level Assassin (my other character).

Also, some of us enjoy the game just for the play, and to heck with the lame storyline!

I know where your coming from sazerac, its a shame the two best class types only become available at the very end, Its like the black isle games (baldurs gate etc) Where they list spells to lvl 9 in the manual but u can only memorise lvls 1-7 and be lucky to find others in scrolls, you feel almost cheated.
I was just making the point that i wouldnt be interested in hanging around an area for ages just to build up my characters, killing oakenmir hah! now that was different 1 battle for all that exp!
