Currently I am reading Dostoyevsky (the Brothers Karamozov and enjoying it. IMHO, the Russian authors aren’t that bad but in fairness I am looking for a break from Russian Lit.

Personally, if you’re looking for something to threaten with, I find Descartes’ First Meditations on Philosophy, Plato’s Republic, or Dewey’s the Public and It’s Problems up to the task.

Grr, rewriting, man..
Well i knew someone should rise up and defend them, i don´t say that they are bad, they are sometimes extremely interesting and fascinating, but sometimes really booring and difficult to grasp..
Some of the french authors tried to have this real and personal galleries of eveybody in the book wich made me think of it as a phonbook advanced. We have some swedish authors too that are really booring to read, but still had too..

Agreed. I was not trying to say these authors are simple just that they are not a terrible. Russian literature certainly has its obstacles. Like trying to figure out who is who when the authors refer to the characters by multiple names (i.e. first names, only middle names, nick names, etc…).

Speaking of French literature, have you read any Hugo? If so, what did you think?
