Anyone out there ever put together a wedding? How do you set up the reception in terms of timing what happens when? I'm going to be talking to dj's to find out how they do things and get an idea which one to hire but I'd love some advice from someone who's been through it!

If you can spare the $$: a weddingplanner!! Saves a lot of hassle, but like I said, only if you can spare the $$. Otherwise ask family and friends who already got married, learn from their XP. But most of all, enjoy!!

If remofing gramma and speeeling meanz les peh-dants, Im all vor id!!!

Thanks Zuvio. Money is an issue, though so I'm the planner!

Mack, we've got some things planned already but I don't have any idea if I'm missing something, guess I should look through the book I got and some more sites online!

I've planned two weddings (both mine) and 4 corporate Holiday Parties. I can give ya all sorts of dos and don'ts. One thing you shouldn't have to worry about is the timing of everything at the reception. If you have it at a good place with a good banquet hall and manager they will take care of everything for you. You just tell them what everyone wants to eat! They take it from there. Just remember this whole wedding and reception only lasts a total of about 6 hours. So you have to have as much fun as possible in a very small amount of time. Its over before you know it!

Thanks, Newbie! (love the nick! LOL) We just signed our contract with a good hotel that does a LOT of banquets and receptions and we love the details they were talking about like needing to know where we were getting the cake because THEY would have to call our bakery to find it if the cake wasn't there on time.. it was so nice to hear that! My fiance was impressed because that says they worry about the little things and don't expect us to have to keep track on the day of the wedding.

Precisely!! All I had to do was bring in the favors and the rest was done for me. I could sit back and enjoy the night! Think of it this way, its there job to make sure you and your fiance have the perfect evening. If you don't think of something, I'll bet they will think of it for you. I hope you have a great wedding and marriage! Congratulations!

It's such a weird concept for me... I am usually the one planning and fussing and trying to make everyone feel at home and comfy! But hey, on that day, I'm sure I'll want to just kick back and enjoy the day! I know the staff there does this sort of thing alot and they have a fantastic wedding package so I guess I'll just try and have fun with my ...oh my.. he'll be my HUBBY then! eef! I'm gonna have to get used to that! Can't wait though!

edit: hey SG! POD? Pay on Delivery? LOL sorry, I don't know the group!
