I pronounce it almost the same...with the "r" as "French" as it can get out of an American throat lol, not quite "rain" and not quite "renn"...something in between that would probably be best decribed as "American French" I'm sure Moiraine has heard it being spoken by tourists.

Donut's right about there being an English word "moraine". I had long forgotten it from Earth Science, but it is a glacial deposit of earth and stones.
The word "moraine" also exists in French (same thing), and there is another word "moire" which means "watered fabric". I am a shiny glacier !

op.
Thanks for the info tjohnntty~did I spell that right?
Cajun...associated with the Louisiana French who've been speaking it since they came here from France...probably has a southern drawl these days LOL...I dunno I haven't been to Louisiana in decades.
Originally a northerner, I learned French in High School from a local there, northern American nasal twang included.
Its odd for this being one country how many dialects there are to our language. I learned Spanish in Arizona where there is a large portion of Mexicans who find the way I speak it perfectly acceptable. However, a friend of mine who came here from Guatemala told me I may as well be speaking socially unacceptable slang where he comes from and he proceeded to teach me the proper pronunciation of consonants as we would carry on conversations. He hated having to correct me because he said otherwise, I spoke Spanish beautifully, better than most Americans he had ever met.
Anyway, my French sux and I need reschooled by someone who knows how to speak it properly. Maybe I should take a trip to Louisiana?

Your Friend,
Minno

Its in the bottom right corner of the page.
I appreciate you wanting to help out too, my friend, that totally rocks!
Your goldfish being from Guatemala is just too cool! I know it can't speak, but does it salsa or do the lambada?

*looks kinda embarressed* My goldfish can't dance, he has no rythm. Btw even if he could, the lambada would be out of the question, that dance is from Brizal.
