Brendon Grey
That had been totally amazing! Brendon had never been near or experienced such a powerful usage of magic before in his life! He had of course seen fire erupt from the fingers of a mange, and watched a cleric revive a dead friend...but never had he felt the awsome display of magical command as that! He was speechless, and awestruck, and could barely mumble his nervous and excited gratitude as the item he'd asked for was suddenly created for him. He had never owned such a prize! This bag must be worth a dragon's horde! Then, a voice woke Brendon from his daydreaming. Turning to look, a strange character was peering at them, wondering what had gone on in the treehouse turn alchemy lab. "Well met, friend...My name is Brendon Grey, and this is a new friend of mine, though we have just met and I know not his name. He was creating a magical item for me to use in the battle against the Hunger of the Forums. Have you come also, to join with us?" |

The elf pulled himself up the rest of the way and sat down corss-legged on the floor, keeping both Brendon and the old man in his sight. The deep blue cloak wrapped itself around the elf, as if it were protecting him. "Greetings, Brendon Grey," the elf answered, the musical tones of elvish speech still evident in his use of the common tongue. He looked at Brendon, tilting his head back in order to see from under the hood of his cloak. Brendon could see the elf's bright blue eyes for a split second before the elf lowered his head once again. "I am Syrathic, swashbuckler extraordinarie," the elf continued in his smooth voice. "I have also been known to rangers as the Starshadow, but that is a story for another time. If you will have me, I will venture with you against this... enemy called the Hunger, though I do not know what it is, or whence it came. A young, seculsive adventurer such as myself is usually the last to know of such things."
occ: Larry- Brendon can see some kind of pain or emptiness in the elf's eyes in that split second, but because of the shortness of that length of time, he probably thinks he's imagining it. |

Brendon Grey
Brendon had strange feelings about this new fellow. He was rather secretive and sad...or maybe just a distant kind of guy. Either way...he had vowed to help in the battle against the evil Hunger. Turning to Myron, he said, "Well, then! With your leave sir...I shall go into the world to do something against this unnatural evil. I shall heed the words you have shared with me, and return to you soon with whatever items I come across that might appease your appetite." Turning to the hooded elf, he said, "Then let us be off! We have a good sprint ahead of us to catch up to the others! Oh...I forgot to mention...I am travelling with a party of adventurers like myself, and they have gone ahead. We are 25 minutes behind them, and half that if we can run. Along the way, we can talk more. Are you ready?" |

Syrathic eyed the old man from under the hood of his cloak. The old man made him feel very uneasy. "If you're done here, Brendon, let us be off." The sooner he could get away from the old man, the better he would feel. "A little bit of a run would be invigorating, if you are so inclined. But you will have to tell me more of your other companions as we go."

Brendon Grey
"Then we shall go." Brendon and his new travelling companion began their sprint across the land, heading East on the road that the others had taken about half an hour ago. Breondon was in good shape, but had to exort himself to keep up with this fellow who was as swift and tireless as the wind. "Well, let me tell you what I know about the others...which is not much. I only met with them briefly, as we rallied together to come face this plague on the land together. They were very anxious to begin this journey, and I was more curious that an undead sage suddenly decided to take up residency in that treehouse back there just as we were leaving the scene. Not one to miss an opportunity of learning something new, I had to investigate, and I asked for a favor from him if he would make me a quiver that could hold a seemingly endless array of arrows, in turn for whatever magical or odd artifacts that I happen across on this journey. He didn't hesitate! Now I am glad that I was born with that streak of curiosity in me." Brendon then stopped speaking for a bit to catch up on his breathing, as he was now laboring a bit more than his fleet-footed friend... "Now, about the others...I...er...well...I know that we travel with an odd bunch. There's this guy named Morguerat that was involved in the dramatically epic battle against the legendary Mad Modding Mage of Ironworks. Morguerat nearly died in that battle and has fallen from the grace of his God, due to the poisonings in his body created by the Mad One. Let's see...there is a Chosen of Odin that is with us, and he is a very confident, and strong person. Won't need to worry about him. Then...let's see...there's another guy that was in the first war against the Mage that seems very eager to get going. He had a pet dragon in that battle that died, I think. Oh! and this lady with a pet lion. She is a newcomer to this land, and speaks shyly...but I think there is more to her than all that. She is probably the most curious of the bunch,,,well, next to you, that is. And me, but I am really a nobody. Just a common and curious adventurer that has been lured by the intruigues of venture. I think I have covered everyone." Brendon stops again, not being able to speak anymore for the fire that is now erupting in his lungs. this run was going to kill him, before they ever met a monster to fight! yet he was too proud to ask for a break. |

For Brendan and Syrathic
Once more strong and rapid footfalls strike the dry and barren ground here and the rhythm of their strikes upon the earth gives rise to a gently vibrating song of movement that is carried within the soil. This is the second such song to pass through this area in a very short time. The first had attracted the beast’s attention and drew it here, its restless appetite sharpened and ready to feed. Now a second vibrating song, a song heavy with the promise of food, is felt and appetite stirs a hungry body into motion. The crest on the creature’s back raises and pierces the ground, cutting through the soil like the fin of a shark moving through water as the massive creature moves with a swift directness toward the two adventurers. ooc: Just a little tune-up for everyone. Given how swiftly the two have been running, it is quite possible that the rest of the group might hear the noise of battle. The creature is a bulette and information about it is available here. |

OOC>>>uh oh...well...at least I know which one of the two of us it will eat. Thanks for the link, Cyril...I wish I was elven...
IC>>>Brendon Finally being unable to make another step, Brendon ceased running, and plopped down on the ground to rest. "Excuse me! I cannot take another step! My legs need a rest and my lungs are on fire. I pray you forgive my human weaknesses!" With his eyes closed and enjoying the break that he was allowing his tired body, Brendon could swear that he felt or heard rumblings. Knowing he was not hungry, so the noise was not coming from his belly, he inquired of his travelling companion.. "Strange...I think I felt the ground shake. Is this land prone to eathquakes or tremors?" [ 10-26-2002, 01:39 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

Syrathic paused while his new companion collapsed to the ground. Underneath his hood, an eyebrow raised in amusement. This was nothing new to the elf. "I hope I have not been setting to hard of a pace for you, Brendon. If you wanted to go slower, all you had to do was say the word."
He gazed around the surroundings as his companion tried to regain his breath. Nothing seemed amiss... "Strange... I think I felt the ground shake," his companion commented. "Is this land prone to eathquakes or tremors?" "I wouldn't know, as I'm new to the land," Syrathic answered. "But are you sure you felt shaking?" Syrathic put his hand to the ground. Brendon watched as the elf pulled it back suddenly. "I don't think you're imagining it. I feel it too." He glanced around once again. "I wonder what it could be?" He shivered unconsciously, which usually meant bad news. The elf's hands disappeared inside his cloak and he pulled out two long swords. The one in his right hand was slightly longer than the one in his left. "I hope you're a good shot with your bow, Brendon. I have a bad feeling about this." OOC: Oh, my first battle! How exciting... Right-hand blade is a +3 long sword (his friend's old blade), off hand blade is a regular long sword with a +2 to AC, in case you're wondering. Any other info needed, let me know. I'll be in and about every little while the rest of the weekend. |

Brendon
Suddenly forgetting his fatigue at the sight of the elf readying himself, Brendon grabbed for his long-bow and two arrows. Putting one arrow between his teeth, and notching the other in the bowstring, he was not going to let this tremor-maker catch him not at the ready. Pulling his bowstring back and waiting, listening, and hoping that his partner knew how to use those pretty swords if he was to miss this shot. OOC>>>Now, I am assuming we will play this standard RP battle-style...Cyril will be the avatar of the creature, and will manage it's consiousness. If I make a shot, I might or might not be able to pull another off, depending on the creature's speed. I have rapid shot feat and precise shot feat at my level. Like I said before, most of my feats and abilities will be in archery, so if I have to go with swords, I may be lacking somewhat. When I make my post, I will not post again until the creature has moved as well as Syrathic. I trust each of you will know your characters' limits and speed and all that...Have I left anything out? I have Brendon's stat sheet in my memory, but I was thinking about actually making a hard-copy on my desktop to use as a guide and check off each arrow that I use and all that. Do we want to use physical stat sheets, or just play by memory and the honor-code? Which is more fun? |
