ELIZA (To Roxanne and Verloren) "Come then, my ladies. Let us go to the spring and cleanse ourselves. The weather is clement, and I shall ask Lady Galadria and Isaura to join us. Woe be to the man who spies on us."

LADY GALADRIA (Seeing Eliza and Verloren emerge from the cave just after Sanael had quickly and gruffly gone by, she is amazed to see Lady Roxanne with them, heavily bruised and clad in rags covered by Eliza's cloak. She rushes to her.) "My dear Lady Roxanne. It is I, Galadria. Remember, I was your fosterling in the Sisters of the Sword, many suns ago. What has happened? Who has done this to you? By Mystra, they shall not live another day, if I can bring them before my sword." (She tries to embrace her, but Roxanne flinches away, making a whimpering noise.) "Forgive me. I see that someone has forced themselves on you, and you shrink from contact. Fear not, I shall not so offend again.

Legolas

After a plain but welcome breakfast the two step outside to continue their journey. Before they get very far, a rider appears from behind an ancient, twisting pine tree. The horse, a charger, is a light brown, and though not exceptionally large or costly, it is groomed to a point where the creature shines. It's rider is human, his face young but bearing several scars. His short-cropped hair is a black the colour of a raven's feathers. Polished and shining, the ringmail he wore looked splendid on him. Either he or his squire behind him would have to have spent many hours working it up to it's current gleam. Around the suit of armour played a series of bright red lights, each tracing the contours of his chest in slow circles. It was hard to determine whether the armour was enchanted for protection or for show.
He halted short of Legolas and Sorsha and swung out of the saddle with practiced grace. The squire bent backwards, also a very practiced move to avoid contact with his master's leg.

"G'day travellers," he said. "Name's Ser Castor, of the, ehr, most noble Order of the Radiant Heart."

Legolas gave the man a nod and he continued.

"Dere's a bloke in the tavern told me of two travellers, I hope you're not going south, eh?"

The man strangely overstretched his vowels.

"We are. Why?"

Castor looked around cautiously and lowered his voice.

"They tell there's trouble that way, in one of them forests."

He leaned closer to Sorsha

"But there ain't nothing to worry about with me around, you'll see. If ya got to there, I'll gladly come along. That bloke over there's my squire Vino, almost as nice a guy as me, eh?"

Verloren
As they reached the lake, Verloren leapt off Wind Shadow and all but tore off her clothes before she dove into the water. The area around her became stained with orc blood, and she quickly kicked away from it.
"Vile, vile beasts!" she cried and ducked under the water, scrubbing her hair vigourously. She swam back to the lakes edge and grabbed her shirt, plunging it under water, as with her pants. Soon, both were decently clean and dry from a special spell she knew. Now was time to focus on her leg...

A large trianglular scar on the back of her thigh is what met her eyes, surrounded by purple yellowish bruises. She brushed it lightly with her hand and chomped her lip in pain. "Damn orcs," she snarled, then climbed out of the water, shook herself off, and put her clothes on.
"Well, thats much better! Lady Roxxane, how are you feeling?"

LADY ROXANNE (She is lying on a rock in a shallow pool, where Galadria and Eliza are gently laving her bruises and combing out her hair. For the first time since her rescue, a ghost of a smile crosses her face at the sight of the earnest young face in front of her.) "May you never know how vile orcs are, sweet girl." (She turns back her face to Eliza, who is trying to comb through a snarl. Eliza stops, guiltily.) "Do not worry, my little reedheaded friend. Eliza is your name, is it not? So much has gone on today, and all of it jumbled together. Blandamour speaks well of you. From him, that is a recommendation to my truest trust. Comb all the vileness out of my poor hair. I want it clean, no matter how much pain it costs me." (Catches a jealous look from Galadria, and turns her smile her way.) "And you, Galadria. Tell me of what has happened, so that I may be up with you all. I hope that you have a spare robe, for I fear my armor is gone forever."

ELIZA (to Roxanne, pulling firmly through the tangle and removing an elflock.) "Then it shall be as you say. If you are my Lord's sister, I shall love you as my own, for he is the gentlest, dearest, finest man that I ever knew, and I tell you frankly, I shall not willingly be parted from him. Tell me your desire, and I will try my best to fulfill it, though" (glancing at Galadria's generous proportions) "perhaps my lady's clothes would fir you better than mine."

*Another scene. It is the dragon's den. The little orc, whose name is Lushbask, prances around proudly in its new suit of leather armor. Suddenly, he runs to the mouth of the cave, hearing footsteps, which, due to the acoustics of the place, are always magnified. Standing at the opening, prevented from entering by Kinn'zuwannik's wards against magical creatures, is a fearful sight. A skeleton with yet a few rags of decayed flesh is there, emitting a magical aura and clad in mage's robes. The eyes are still alive and glare balefully at Lushbask. He immediately thinks, a lich, and runs back to the dragon who is looking at him expectantly.*

LUSHBASK "Lord Dragon, it is some Undead wizard. You want to see, or burn him up in your breath? Can Lushbask watch?"

KINN'ZUWANNIK (Hisses) "Shut up, fool. It must be the lich Peven. Bring him in, by all means. This should be amusing."

Isaura

She does a quick wash and pops out, offering to watch over the remaining ladies. As she stands there, alert to the point of mental strain, a single cry echoes in the sky... an anguished wail that pierces straight into her heart.

Without warning, the thought strikes her forcefully, she knows not why it is so certain.

Raymond... I have lost him forever...

Crushed, she closes her eyes momentarily, hearing nothing but the shriek and the splashing behind her.

Sorsha

The suspicion she bears against the two intruders deepens, though she cannot pinpoint the reason. Perhaps it is their manner of address... so coarse, so unlike all the men she had interacted with so far. Yet she knows how unjustly her doubts are and silently berates herself for being so seemingly superficial.

Stepping towards Legolas, she lowers her head, indicating that she will stand by his decision, regardless of what it will be.

OOC>> Sorry to hear about that, Mistral. Hope you are better, soon. IC>>

*PEVEN, the lich described above, storms in. To Kinn'zuwannik:* "Dragon, you have betrayed me. Just as my plans were coming to fruition, and my son about to be born, you have made some deal with the god-befouled Order. I had managed to get a suitable woman, and impregnate her, and now she is snatched away.. What do you mean by it? We had a deal. I was to give you that vase, and you were to provide the hidden cave where I could work undisturbed by her ...family. Is your word of no value at all? You reflect badly on the honor of dragons everywhere."

KINN'ZUWANNIK "And so, the deal we made, you and I, it was supposed to be for all eternity? The surety you gave, the pledge, where is it? You have my leave to rummage through my hoard, and if you find it, I shall take wing and steal the woman back, myself." (As the lich reaches for the nearest pile, he adds suavely) "subject to the usual penalties if you fail to find it, of course." (He smiles a worm-smile, a drop of black acid dripping from a foot-long fang and lands on Peven's tattered robe, dissolving a large patch of it in a puff of foul-smelling smoke.)

PEVEN (draws hastily back) "Well, what of it if you cannot keep up with your treasure? Am I to be surety, as you say, for all time?"

KINN'ZUWANNIK (roars)" JUST WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TALKING TO? SOME IMBECILE?" (then, coldly) " Lich, only you knew that I had my sweet bowl. Am I supposed to believe that some thief came to my den, risking his all, ignoring all else for one simple vase? No, you told someone. Someone who could steal from me. Therefore, I revealed your hiding-hole to Sir Blandamour of the Iron Arm. Ah, that makes you flinch, does it not? His very sister, you picked to be the incubator for your foul spawn? Why was that? The woods and vales are full of girls who are fit to bear men-children. Could you not find one with less-ominous protection? A question to which I have devoted much thought."
