A man dressed in servant clothes was backed against the wall, having nowhere to run, begged fearfully "Dont kill me! Don't kill me!"

Odin Magnus opened his eyes, all eight of them, and observed Sir Byronas. Sir Byronas seemed to be trouble, for he was making wretched movements with his hands in front of his eyes. Judging from this and Sir Byronas' comments on his eyes, Odin deduced that Sir Byronas was blind.

Forcibly ignoring the pain, Odin focused his eyes on both the masked man and Sir Byronas. Thanks to the fact that he had eight eyes, he could see movements in greater detail and anticipate reactions. It would seem that he will have to share his vision with Sir Byronas... but he could not talk... how was he going to communicate with Sir Byronas?

There was one option... but it would require a risk, a big risk, one that could disfigure him permanently. Odin sighed... he was in no shape for proper spellcasting, but if he did not do something soon, both of them will end up dead.

Carefully focusing in his mind, he visualised a human mouth, and it was not long before his mandibles began to transform into human lips. He looked awful however, and it was weird to see a spider with a human mouth. It was good that neither Odin Magnus nor Sir Byronas could see the change, because it was revolting.

Able to sprout words once more, Odin began to bark out commands to Sir Byronas,

"Sir Byronas, parry 2 inches up!"

It was time to play puppeter.

may I give a boost? sorry Byronas if the playing style doesn't fit you, you can change as you see fit.

The paladin fought bravely, but not blindly, thanks to Odin's accurate account. The spider's eight eyes had a great advantage in capturing movements, even better than his own sight. The paladin's mind was far beyond this realm at this moment, the struggle between life and death had brought him closer to his God (fill it in yourself). When he fought regardless his life, his sword is guided by courage and faith. A silver divine light shrouded the noble warrior.

Each strike is aimed with deadly accuracy, and each parry is executed strictly. Every now and then, the paladin scored a cut or two on the masked man as the words "thrash upper left!" or "low cut right!" came from Odin. The masked man grunted with annoyance, but obviously not in pain. He made numerous attempt to get the commanding spider, but the cunning mage had consatntly shift about to place the paladin between himself and the masked man.

The masked man grumbled loudly as the paladin thrashed the long sword into his guts, blood spilling all over and covered the paladin's hand in red. The masked man didn't even flinch, he punched the paladin once and cut his scimitar on the paladin's hand. "shield up!" Odin shouted with emergence as Byronas brought up his shield just in time.

With a sly snicker, the masked man grabbed the paladin's collar and lifted him off the ground like toasing a piece of paper... but he paid for his action as a painful shriek escaped his lips. Hastily, he threw the paladin off, who hit the walls and fell heavily on the floor, divine light still glowing. The masked man clunctched his hand in a grip (the one that touched Byronas) all muscles tighten, trying hard to shake off the burning wound.

He shouted something incoherent to his still holding scimitar, a dark cloud emergied around himself as he transformed into a mass of shadow, floating and swirling in the air. With an unearthly wail, the shadow rushed towards the still laying paladin, scimitar pointedly glowed a black light...

OOC: the paladin now is half seated against the southern wall. he is barely concious, and still blinded, but can respond to simple commands (simple, but not intricate) one hand held long sword, another the shield.

the southern room is Parlor, still burning, fire is already devouring through the wall.

The shadow form runs at a speed three times faster than human, scimitar still helds.

Byronas, check your PM.

Odin Magnus had seen what could happen when the masked man touched Sir Byronas, and he calmly said to Sir Byronas in a firm voice,

"Believe in yourself."

Byronas could not even realize what he did. Fortunately Odin told him what to do but he couldn't fight for a long time like that. "I must do something!" he thought. "Helm help me!" he shout. And suddenly a voice came from his mouth telling "I command you to go back and die in Hell!". Then Byronas turned to a blue eagle and flew up catchimg Odin with his legs.

OOC: I hope you like it 250. Sorry for being away from the adventure. I have some problems with my left eye.

OOC: wow, man, I hope your eye is well. take care yourself

Looking down at the mortal plane, Helm wondered "shouldn't my followers be brave?" He shook his head with disdanful look, "I thought my paladins do not flinch in the sight of evils, now where is the determination and righteous cry?" His eyebrows twisted with annoyance, but then finally breathed out a resigned sigh "Fine, I suppose I shouldn't abandone you then.... I will make one exception for you..."

back to the mortal plane:

The shadow formed creature hissed at the pitiful attempt, a scimitar thrashed out of the black mist. Just second before the blade cut into the fallen paladin's flesh, the man changed into an eagle with a flash of blinding light! The eagle flipped its wings and dodged the killing weapon as it leaped into air. The shadow formed creature waved his scimitar angrily at the intended prey. Finally, the creature wailed chillfully, then ducked into the fire that are still burning in the Parlor room, and vanished behind the flames.

OOC: Byronas, if you'd like, "BACK YOU DEVIL!!!" is pretty effective with a short description...
a paladin's strength is determination, courage, and faith. think of yourself in such dire stage, and think of all the self sacrficing deeds, the honor codes, the stories of how legendery paladins battle the demons, dragons, going against odds, finding strength to go on from what they believe to be true in their hearts, following the divine guidence of their God... THAT is paladin. try to be like that, before you post. this is what I call "in character"

Byronas left Odin at a safe place and quickly changed to his normal from. "Thank you Helm" he said. "Taho padouca Odin soerti Hercules (Hercules come and guard Odin)" Byronas said and suddenly Hercules appeared running towards his boss ready to do anything his boss would tell him. "Good to see you my old friend!" Byronas said. Then Byronas quickly turned to the masked man and said "Demon, or whatever you are! We have something to talk about!" Then Byronas quickly grabed a sword and attacked with all the power he had in his Paladin heart. He hit the masked man much more powerful than the previous hit. Byronas hit the masked man with more and more power! "You've killed innocent people!" Byronas said and cut one of masked man's hands. "As a Paladin of the Radiant Order" Byronas kicked out the masked man's swords "I arrest you for murdering innocent people!". Then Byronas gave the final hit. He cut of with his sword the masked man's head and the headless body felt to the ground. "May the gods forgive you!" Byronas said and headed to Odin. "Are you alright Odin?" Byronas said "Shall we catch up the halfing and Regin?"

OOc:I hope this represents a Paladin's heart!

Regin looked at the pitiful man before him, crawling up against the wall.
*Don't hurt me!*, he cried.
*Don't worry boy, I won't hurt ya. Just tell me who you are.*
He turned to Lucre and whispered;
*This man seems to be in chock..I think we should try and find out why.*

OOC>>250, how old is this man?

[OOC]
LOL! An apology in advance to you, Byronas. I hope the following will not offend you, but your initial reaction was not what I expected. I was thinking that you would do something like say a prayer to Helm and an aura will form around you just like the spell effect of False Dawn, causing the masked man to incinerate and reduce him to exocised ashes. If I am not mistaken, Helm will help you if you call out to him and ask him to aid you, but you have to convince Helm of your faith and your belief in him.

I must say though, I laughed really hard when I read 250's description of Helm's reaction. No hard feelings Byronas?

PS: If I recall correctly, Byronas is still blind? Unless Helm restored his vision or something?
[/OOC]

Odin Magnus groaned and mumbled weakly. The magical pain from the masked man's dagger had more or less subsided, but the wound itself was still hurting and starting to get itchy. Odin hated itchy wounds, but there was no Cleric at hand, and he was not carrying any healing potions at the moment.

It startled him a little when Sir Byronas talked to him, and after asking Sir Byronas politely to repeat himself, Odin replied,

"My wounds are superficial. I will survive."

Odin paused for a while and slowly morphed back into his human form. He then patted Hercules and continue speaking,

"Sir Byronas, you are a Paladin right? Can you heal me? I do not intend to impose much on you, but I would like to be less of a burden to you; and after you heal me, I will try to dispel your Blindness, unless Helm almighty has restored your sight already?"

Pausing for a while again, Odin looked at the still body of the masked man. Squinting his eyes, he wondered if the man was truly down for the count. Facing Sir Byronas again, he added to his commentary,

"But first things first, I think we better set fire to... that thing, whatever it is. Then we heal up in this place that is currently burning up, and then if the building does not collapse by then, go search for survivors. The Dwarf and the Halfling can wait... for now. They seem to be decent fighters, I am sure that they will do fine on their own for a while."

Talking about the shorty duo made Odin furrow his brows. He was not sure that they would survive, and he hoped that they did, for he had plans for them... and he did not like to waste anymore effort on this... fruitless mission of his anymore. Concluding his speech, Odin said,

"Is this okay with you, Sir Byronas?"
